BECAUSE YOU CARE...
ENDING HOMELESSNESS
Hope's Cottage
At Hopes Cottage homeless families have a nurturing environment to overcome domestic violence, drug abuse, mental illness and other barriers to stability and self-sufficiency. Families actively participate in educational programs building the skills and resources needed to increase income, effectively manage finances, establish stable homes, and build strong families with bright futures. Through this program families are strengthened and empowered to transition from homelessness to independent living.
SAFETY FROM ABUSE
The Journey Center
It is estimated that one in four women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. For many home is a prison of untold violence, oppression, and pain. Fayette Cares offers options and resources to help victims become survivors and break the cycle of violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline facilitating access to emergency shelter and transportation for victims in imminent danger. Fayette Cares helps promote safety with safety planning, emergency cellular phones, self-defense classes, security systems, court accompaniment, and links to other essential resources. Support groups are also offered, giving victims the opportunity to find the power of healing within themselves and among other survivors.
STABILITY AFTER FINANCIAL CRISIS
Emergency Food, Shelter, and Rapid Re-housing
In every life a little rain must fall but for some it is a deluge. The flood may be in the form of a job loss, a house fire, unexpected custody of a grandchild, or other emergency. Fayette Cares helps stabilize families in financial crisis with emergency food, clothing, hygiene products, housewares, school supplies, and other essentials.
Families receive aid that goes beyond immediate needs to offer lasting stability. Fayette Cares funds rent, mortgage or utility payment to prevent a plummet into homelessness. Our staff and volunteers help families with resources and life skills classes to build opportunities for self-sufficiency.
HOLIDAY CHEER
Christmas Caring
Full boxes of food, full trucks of toys and full hearts can be found during the Fayette Cares Christmas Caring efforts. Before dawn, volunteers deliver a semi-trailer full of food which will be distributed by an army of volunteers to more than 500 families.
Simultaneously other Fayette Cares volunteers, AKA Santas little helpers, organize more than 3,000 toys spreading cheer to hundreds of children.
Generous supporters make sure stockings and stomachs are filled by a caring community. With this and other Fayette Cares efforts volunteers enjoy meaningful community service working with friends and neighbors to touch lives.
